Brownie Girl Scout Lessons

Geiser-Weaver is offering two fine art badges for Brownies for the 2021-2022 school year season. For all lessons the girls will complete all necessary requirements to earn the badge. We do not provide the actual badge, it is your responsibility to purchase badges for your troop. All materials to finish the badges is provided. All badge workshops require a reservation. There is a $50.00 minimum for a workshop, regardless the number of students in your group. All badge workshops require a reservation with the deposit due one month in advance and the remainder due one week prior to the lesson, no payment accepted at the lesson. Payment can be made by debit/credit card simply by paying the invoice provided to you.  Check tab called: "Scout Lesson Availability Calendar" for dates that I have open for lessons for both afternoon or evening.  Lessons are approximately 45 minutes -  1 hour.  
Due to fluctuating gas prices, any lesson outside the city limits of South Lyon will be assessed a gas fee:
10 miles to 50 miles (round trip) - $5 total gas fee
Greater than 50 miles (round trip) - $10 total gas fee

Potter Badge

Requirements Covered:
1) Find some pottery - pottery exploration (done ahead of time)
2) Get to know clay - have a potter to your meeting - that is me!
3) Make a simple pot - pinch pot with add on butterflies , flowers, hearts, stars or seasonal items
4) Make an art piece - make coil clay snakes and/or snails
5) Paint and glaze - we will glaze a round or square coaster/tile
Cost: $9.00 per girl (if you pick up finished pieces) or $10.00 per girl (if you want pieces mailed back to you, if I am in the area I will deliver them to you)

An optional activity for this badge is for me to bring my professional, portable potters wheel and allow the girls to try the wheel. If you choose this option you must have one extra adult minimal dedicated to just help with this option (no experience needed). Also, be aware no pieces created on the wheel are saved - it is just for fun.

Please Note: The materials used in this badge are quite heavy, I use a wagon to transport all items, keep that in mind when you schedule where you will hold your lesson. While every effort to insure that clay pieces are returned to you intact, because of the fragile state of clay pieces sometimes pieces fall or break off. Directions are provided to reattach pieces and also finishing techniques are provided for unglazed pieces.

Painting Badge
Requirements Covered:
1) Get inspired - Famous Women Artist Game 
2) Paint the real world -  Landscape painted canvas
3) Paint a mood - Watercolor painting expressing different moods 
4) Paint without brushes - paint dauber canvas purse
5) Paint a mural - decorate your own folder, add them together to make a mobile mural. Mural will be posted onto a dedicated private Facebook site to make a troop's virtual mural.

Cost: $8.00 per girl

Outdoor Art Creator Badge
Requirements covered:
1) Find art ideas outdoors - binoculars & spot game
2) Make something - terra cotta nature boxes
3) Dance or make music outdoors - nature movement game
4) Be a nature photographer - you are on your own as a troop to do this requirement - not covered in workshop 
5) Design with nature - tissue paper leaves

​Cost: $7.00 - $8.00 per girl
​PAINTING BADGE LESSON KITS ARE AVAILABLE - CONTACT ME FOR MORE INFORMATION. A SAFE, STAY AT HOME ART BADGE EXPERIENCE - COMPLETE THE WHOLE BADGE - ORDERS OF SIX OR MORE KITS DELIVERED FOR FREE (WILL MAIL SMALLER QUANTITIES FOR A MINIMAL COST) - COST IS THE SAME AS THE IN PERSON LESSON.
